Genre: Pop

This song was inspired after hearing too many people complain about the “gloomy weather” we were having. I couldn't relate to them because I found the weather to be refreshing and beautiful, not just an “unfortunately necessary” part of the weather cycle. I was further inspired after my Bible study group decided to have a water fight one evening. When people listen to “Rainy Day,” I want them to remember that all of God’s creation is beautiful, and we can find joy in every part of it. The verses have a gentle sound that feels like simple observation of beauty. The feel of the song changes in the chorus to be more energetic. By using staccato articulation, I mimic jumping around in the rain with the music. I also chose to use a lot of imagery, to really transport the listener to the kind of rainy day I see. One of my favorite lines is “Seize the moment before the sun takes it all away.” I took the phrase my siblings and I would say as kids, "carpe diem" - seize the day, and changed it because the weather shifts as fleeting moments.
