Genre: Modern Hymn

I wrote “The Truth” with my friend and former internship supervisor, Chris. We started writing this song during my internship. Wanting to write a modern hymn, we chose to base it on the Athanasian Creed. As we set our roadmap for the song, we decided to write it in 3/4 time. Even though it feels like 6/8 time, we specifically chose 3/4 to signify the Trinity. Then, we took the time to carefully extract the main ideas from the creed before forming it into a song. The Athanasian Creed is quite long, so we had to find a way to condense it into song form while maintaining all of the core principles. We did not finish the song by the time my internship ended, but in the next couple of months, I added more verses and a refrain, sending Chris the drafts to make sure he approved.
